FAQs
What is it?
A Magic Star face paint split cake designed by Elodie Ternois for her Lodie Up collection — 30g, giving 100–200 applications depending on design.
What is it used for?
A strong pick for fairy and fantasy face paint — ideal for stars, magic wands, and fairytale-style one-stroke details.
Is this part of a palette?
Yes — Magic Star is one of six mini split cakes included in Elodie Ternois's Lodie Up Rainbow Ponies Palette. This 30g cake is the same design available as a larger, standalone size.
What's the difference between a split cake and a rainbow cake?
Split cakes are 30g with narrow colour bands designed for one-stroke gradient blending. Rainbow cakes are 50g with full-sized colour segments built for full multi-colour sponge coverage as well as one-stroke work.
Can I use a sponge instead of a brush?
Yes — dab the colours onto the skin with a small sponge or round dauber, patting back and forth until the colours are even. A flat brush is better suited to one-stroke work.
How many applications does one cake give?
100–200 applications, depending on how much of the design uses the cake and how heavily it's applied.
Can colours be mixed?
Yes. Blend Fusion colours together while wet to create custom shades, or layer colours once the base layer is dry.
Is it safe for kids?
Yes, for ages 3 and up. As with any cosmetic, we recommend a patch test on the wrist before full application.

Fantasy & whimsical designs
Fairy & magic themes
Birthday parties
Special occasions
How to apply & remove
1
Load your brush
Dampen a flat brush slightly, then sweep it across the colour bands to load a smooth gradient. Add water a little at a time by dipping just one corner of the brush — too much water at once will muddy the colours.
2
One-stroke work
With the brush fully loaded across the gradient, paint in a single confident stroke to get the full colour transition in one pass.
3
Sponge application
For broader coverage, load a small sponge or round dauber and dab the colours onto the skin, patting gently until the colours sit evenly.
4
Let dry
Dries quickly, and once dry has a smudge-resistant finish.
5
Remove
Easily removed with soap and water on a soft cloth or sponge. For the gentlest removal, we recommend Brush & Body Wash by Jest Paint ↗ — a natural, plant-based soap safe for skin and brushes.
6
Clean your brushes & store
Clean brushes and sponges after each use with Brush & Body Wash by Jest Paint ↗ so colours don't carry over between uses. Store the cake dry with the lid on in a cool place away from direct sunlight. Never leave in a hot car.
Ingredients
Contains — base formula+
Calcium Carbonate
Natural mineral. Gives the paint its smooth texture and opacity.
Acacia Senegal Gum
Natural plant-based gum. Binds the formula and helps it adhere to skin.
Glycerin
Plant-derived humectant. Keeps skin comfortable and the paint workable.
Polyvinylpyrrolidone
Film-forming agent. Helps paint apply smoothly and dry to a smudge-resistant finish.
PEG-32
Gentle conditioning agent. Improves texture and helps the formula blend evenly.
This is the same Magic Star design included in Elodie's Rainbow Ponies Palette, sized up to a full 30g single cake — a good option if you go through this shade often and want a bigger stand-alone cake.
vs mixing your own colour combos
This split cake is pre-blended by Elodie Ternois specifically for her Magic Star design — no guesswork blending individual colours to get her signature gradient look.
vs oil-based paints
Acacia Senegal Gum base is lighter and more breathable than oil-based formulas — no greasy feel, no pore-clogging, and removes with soap and water instead of oil cleansers.
Best for
fantasy & whimsical designs and anyone needing easy soap-and-water removal at the end of the day.
Not suitable for: full waterproofing requirements. If you need waterproof paint, consider an alcohol-activated formula instead.
